13th June 2017 | Barbican Centre, London

Meet with the Barbican, Kuoni, VisitBritain and other digital buyers at this year’s Showcase Digital

ETOA, the European Tourism Association, is a leading trade association of over 850 travel industry members. We have worked with .Travel since its inception, and are proud to help members choose the right .travel domain name. We have several .Travel sites for flagship events. Using these sites helps showcase our industry, and we plan to have more in the future.

Technology and its ever-evolving usage have altered the way travelers research, book and enjoy their experiences, as well as how travel businesses talk to each other and forge partnerships.

The consumer travel purchase cycle has changed. It starts with a content-rich online research phase, carried out across multiple devices. People trust their personal networks the most: integrated review technologies and unfettered access to targeted social media platforms have made access to these options easier than ever. Today’s travelers want to share their experiences during and after their trip; there has never been a better time to be an “Instagrammable” destination or attraction.

Being seen is not always a good thing for some destinations, though. Some places have too many visitors; for example, cities such as Venice and Barcelona are struggling to support the increase in tourists.

As part of London Technology Week 2017, ETOA will showcase the role of technology at the heart of the travel sector at a networking event taking place at the Barbican in on Tuesday 13th June. Our flagship digital event brings together buyers and sellers of travel technology via conference sessions, one-on-one appointments and networking breaks.

This year’s Showcase.travel Digital will focus on the ‘Digital City Visitor’ – themed sessions will cover case studies of the nexus between the 21st century traveller, tourism operators and technology providers. The conference program will be accompanied by a speed networking-style workshop between technology product and service providers and potential new clients across the tourism industry.

Tour Operators, destinations, attractions and hotels will be represented at the event from brands including Lastminute.com, Madrid Destino, VisitBritain and Kuoni Global Travel Services. Technology providers include Amadeus, Open Destinations, Melt Content and TrekkSoft.

Of the 2016 edition Charlotte Poetzel, Deputy Director of S-E-T Studienreisen said: ‘It’s been a great chance to get to know so many suppliers in only one day without any effort of organizing meetings! The keynote session was an inspiration for further work and the development of our company.’
